The fourth quarter of 2021 saw notable trends in the performance of the top beauty retail apps on the Android platform in Africa. Based on data from Sensor Tower, here’s a detailed look at the weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for the top five apps.

Bath&BodyWorks experienced a varied trend in weekly downloads. Starting from approximately 2.6K downloads at the end of September, the app saw a peak of 8.1K in the first week of November, before stabilizing around 4-6K towards the end of December. Active users followed a similar trend, beginning at 4.8K and peaking at 12.3K in early November, before ending the quarter at around 9K.

BeautyStore showed a significant increase in downloads towards the end of the quarter. Initially, downloads were minimal, with figures below 100 per week. However, starting late November, there was a sharp rise, reaching a peak of approximately 4.8K in the week of December 20. This sudden surge indicates a growing interest in the app.

Mazaya Stores displayed a consistent performance in weekly downloads. Beginning the quarter with around 878 downloads, the app saw a gradual increase, peaking at 1.8K in late November, before slightly dropping to around 954 downloads by the end of December.

FOREO For You maintained a steady download rate throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads ranged between 450 and 800, with slight fluctuations. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 2.8K at the end of September and ending the quarter at approximately 2.5K.

Finally, Juicy Chemistry had an interesting trend in downloads. The app began strong with 1.4K downloads at the end of September and peaked at 3.3K in the first week of October. However, there was a sharp decline in the following weeks, dropping to just 22 downloads by mid-October.
